St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland after evangelizing and bringing Christianity to the Irish. After being kidnapped at sea, Patrick was sold into slavery as a shepherd. Upon escaping, St. Patrick returned to Ireland where he later became the Bishop of Ireland. According to legend, Patrick used a shamrock to teach people about the Trinity: One God in Three Persons.
