St. Jude, also known as Thaddeus, was one of the 12 Apostles. St. Jude, the son of Clopas and brother of St. James the Less, was with Jesus at the Last Supper, received the flame of the Spirit at Pentecost, and went on to do great things. The Epistle of Jude was written to the Churches of the East and is about persevering and having hope even in the midst of difficulties - this mindset, as well as the many miracles attributed to him, have led him to become the Patron Saint of impossible or desperate causes.
